Position Description: Youth Director

Duties

To teach a weekly Sunday School class for youth, as needed
To help develop and train young leaders within the church, encouraging their participation in Sunday School and other church activities
To plan and build up monthly activities for youth
To develop relationships with the youth of the church, as possible and desirable (e.g., one-on-one meeting times)
To network with other youth workers and groups, as possible and desirable
To attend the weekly English worship service at JBC and otherwise be a presence representing and being available to youth
To lead or participate in other youth-related activities (and, within the limits of time available, in other church ministries) as directed by the Senior Minister

Relationships

As a member of the church staff, the Youth Director will be directly accountable to the Senior Minister and function as an integral part of the JBC staff. The Senior Minister will provide oversight as well as training for the Youth Director.
The Youth Director will attend the meetings of the Christian Education Committee and the Diaconate, to provide information and liaison in matters pertaining to youth ministry.

Hours

The Youth Director will work on a part-time schedule of 20 hours a week. Hours will be worked in both the JBC office and off-site at youth activities. The Senior Minister and Youth Director will work to create a schedule agreed upon by both parties.
